Restless Nights

Don’t you hate when this happens?? I put the baby to bed, tried to watch tv, read a book,  couldn’t get comfortable, so I came in here.  Maybe I’ll get some sleep tonight. (hopefully)  Hope everyone had a great weekend.  Mine wasn’t too bad.  Cleaned on the house, played with the baby, read some.  That’s about it.  I placed my order late friday/early saturday for the April Nocturne and SRS books.  I also got Kimberly Raye’s next vampire book in the Blaze series.  That’s all this time.  I did stumble across a new author yesterday.  I was flipping through the March issue of RT magagine and saw an ad for Sydney Croft and her Storm series.  They looked great, and sound interesting.   The first came out last Sept, the 2nd came out just last week I think, and the next comes out sometime this summer or fall I think.  Gotta take the baby to Charleston friday fo her final checkup, so I thought about going to BAMM afterwords and seeing if they have the 2 books.  I also need to get Alyssa Day’s Shifter.  It comes out 3-4-08, and is a novella of the next in her Atlantis series.  Can’t wait.  Hope everyone has a good day today.

Gosh, its been a while

Sorry guys, I didn’t realize how long it’s been since I was on here.  Been busy with the baby.  She is doing great by the way.  She wiggles her tongue and sticks it out all the time now.  Her speech is greatly improved, and she is eating much better.  We take her back the 3rd for her final checkup, and then thats it I think.  I’ve been reading like crazy the past few weeks.  I got Rhyannon Byrd’s new Nocturne read, Last Wolf Standing.  Awesome.  Can’t wait for her next to come out, which is in a few days if you order from eHarlequin.  I’ve read most of her paranormals from Ellora’s Cave except for 1, which I have, it’s just in e-book form and I dont have an e-book reader yet.  I’ve also got several of Patrice Michelle’s from Ellora’s Cave.  They are also hot.  I’ve got her A Taste of Control ordered, which is the 3rd in her Kendrian series(vampires), and hoping it gets here by tomorrow.  Gotta put my order in tonight at midnight for the April harlequin releases.  I’ve decided to just start ordering the Nocturnes and Romantic Suspense books, and maybe 1 0r 2 from Blaze or Intrigue if it’s a paranormal theme.  I’m trying to cut back on the bills some, and I told the hubby I’d do this, and it seemed to make him happy.( he was becoming a little snippy)  I like the historicals, but to tell the truth, I don’t always get them read.  So unless Michelle Willingham has one coming out, I’ll just not get them at all.  Besides, I still order from Amazon, and some from ebay when I’m looking for a out of print book.  I stumbled on the L. J. Smith books on ebay the other day.  When I saw the Vampire Diaries books and Secret Circle trilogy, it all came back to me.  Gosh, I loved those when I was a teenager.  That’s what got me hooked on paranormals in the first place.  So of course I bid on them, and won.  She’s got 2 more trilogy’s I want to find again, The Dark Visions trilogy, and The Forbidden Game trilogy.  I’m going book shopping at the flea market next weekend.  Maybe I’ll come across some.  Hope everyone has a great day.

Sorry guys, long week

Well, here’s how the rest of last week and this week have went so far.  Baby had her surgery last thursday, and did great.  She didn’t cry when the nurses took her away from us to the surgery room, and they said she didn’t cry a bit when they got her in there, and she didn’t fight them with the anestesia(they just had to give her gas thank goodness) and when she woke up afterwords, she wasn’t the least bit fussy.  But she was wobbly, and when she wanted down, I was sitting in the rocking chair with her in the recovery room, and I put her down, and she just sank, she couldn’t hold herself up.  She slept on and off all day, and didn’t eat hardly anything.  But she is doing great now.  She just wags her tongue around like its nothing.  That’s been it I guess.  I read my first erotica book from Ellora’s Cave the other day.  Well 1 story out of the 3-1 novella.  It was Rhyannon Byrd’s A shot of Magick.  It was great.  I was suprised my book didn’t catch on fire though as I was reading it.  Very hot stuff in there, let me tell you.  She is writing some books for Silhouette Nocturne, and as I got my March books from Harlequin in today finally, her first one was in the box,.  It’s called Last Wolf Standing, the 1st in her Bloodrunner’s series.  I can’t wait to read it.  Hope everyone has a great night.

So glad it’s almost bedtime

Today was another long day.  Got up at 7:30 this morning to get ready for another trip to Charleston.  At least the baby wasn’t in a bad mood this morning when I put her in the bathtub.  Went to take her for the pre-surgery testing.  She’s ready to go now for thursday.  We have to be there at 6:30 that morning, so that will be a very long day for us.  But it’s worth it to get the baby’s tongue fixed so she can speak correctly.  Other than than that, not too much going on today.  Cleaned on the house some, fixed dinner, and that’s it.  I got some of Rebecca York’s 43 Light Street series books read, and they have been really good.  I’m on The Secret Night now, and it’s really good so far.  I’m going to try to finish it tonight, then do a book review for it on eHarlequin for their 10,000 Book Chalenge.  Guess that’s all for now.  Maybe I’ll have more to talk about tomorrow.  Hope everyone has a great evening.

Long day yesterday

Man, am I glad yesterday is over with.  I was wore out by time we got back home.  The baby didn’t go to sleep til after midnight on friday morning, and she woke up at 3 am, then after getting her back to sleep again, the power went out from that storm right around 4:30 am, so I had to stay up then or risk falling back alseep and not getting up in time.  I showered, got ready, (thank goodness I had pressed the clothes out the night before), and did my makeup.( it’s not easy with no power, trying to use a oil lamp, flashlight)  But we made it through.  The doctor was very nice.  He decided that the surgery was the best option, and to go ahead and do it now so as not to further delay her speech development.  So we go back down to Charleston monday morning for pre-surgery testing, then thursday at 6:30 am for the surgery.  He said after they get her ready, she shouldn’t be under anistesia more than 10 minutes, so thats good news.  And he also said she should heal fast, 2 weeks at the most and you shouldn’t be able to tell any incisions were made.  So that’s been my weekend so far.  How has yours been?  Hope you have a good one.  I’m in the middle of cleaning the house and reorganizing the computer room.  I purchased some office supplies yesterday at Sams, so I could get all our paperwork(bills, etc) seperated into files, a file holder, and desk organizer to hold the stapler, tape dispenser, pens, etc.  Anyone going to watch the game tomorrow?  If so who are you rooting for?  I think I’m going to go with the Patriots.  And I’m just watching it for the commercials.  I hope they have some great ones this year.  Well, I’m going to head out of here and try to get my work finished today.   Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Early morning

Tomorrow is going to be a long day.  I have to leave here by 7 am to take the baby to Charleston.  Her doctor referred us to a EN&T specialist to see about her tongue.  She can’t stick it out like we can, because that skin underneath that holds it is all the way to the tip of her tongue, and when she tries to stick it out, it turns inward almost making a heart shape.  She’s not talking right, and has a hard time eating some foods.  We wanted to wait because her doctor said that sometime it will stretch on its own, but when we had her in the last time, he looked at it and said if it was going to stretch, it would have by 18 months old.  So they might have to schedule for surgery to clip it.  We’ll find out tomorrow.  Other than that, nothing really going on here.  Today’s my B-day, and I got my new book covers I ordered off of Ebay today.  I like them, they were made well, have padding underneath the fabric, which makes it nice too.  I’ve going to take one with me to use tomorrow.  I’ve got to get our clothes ready, her diaper bag(my book bag) packed with essential items(extra pacifiers, etc) and remember to set the alarm clock to get up in time.  I’m going to take a book and the new RT Magazine(march issue) with me.  I have lots of new books to choose from.  I ordered from Ellora’s Cave for the first time, purchased Rhyannon Byrd’s paranormal erotica books she has out.  She has some new books coming out in the Silhouette Nocturne line, starting in march, and they look really good.  So I decided to get some her other books to familarize myself with her writing.  Plus I still have 6 Rebecca York books to finish(some of her 43 Light Street books).  I might take 2 in case I get down there and decide I don’t like one.  Well, that’s my day for today.  Hope everyone has a great night.

Long month

Sorry guys I haven’t been on here for a while.  My mother and father in law are starting up a contracting business, and I have been their guinea pig for the past month, trying to get them registered with all the goverment sites they have to be registered on, and paperwork, etc.  The only thing I’ve been able to keep track of on here is the Nocturne blog on eHarlequin.  I did get all the Drake sister books read finally(those that are out) and finally got Nora Robert’s Blood Brothers read, but that’s about it.  I’ve got a TBR pile that I swear is growing by the hour.  Oh well, I’ll get to them when I can.  Other than that, nothing much going on around here now.  My b-day is this thursday, so I’m going to order a few new books I’ve been eyeballing, and then put my order in for Harlequin at midnight on Thurs. night for the March releases.  I’m still planning on going to RT in Pittsburgh this April, but don’t know about RWA this year.  I’d love to go out there, but I guess I’ll probably have to wait now.  Oh well.  Hope everyone is having a great day.

I’m back

Ok.  It’s been a rough week for us, but I’m trying to get back in the grove.  The new pup is driving me crazy.  Who knew it was so hard to house train dogs.  That’s why I think I like cats better.  So easy.  Oh well.  The baby loves her. (the dog)  they sleep together, play together, and the baby throws the dog scraps when she’s eating.  I’m almost caught up with Christine Feehan’s Drake sisters books.  I just finished her 4th one tonight, Dangerous Tides.  One more to go, Safe Harbor, then I’ll be ready for whenever her next one comes out.  Then I need to start on my backlog of Rebecca York’s Intrigue books I got, plus try to get my Feb. Harlequin books read, starting with the Nocturnes.  Sheesh,  that’s alot of books.  It’s a good thing reading is my favorite hobby.  If you can’t tell I stay up late a bunch to get some alone time to read.  I am going to try to go to the Romantic Times Giant Book Fair they have at their convention this year in Pittsburgh.  It’s only a 2 1/2 hour drive for me, and I get to meet a bunch of my fav authors.  Sweet!!!!!  I’m also trying to plan on going to the Book Fair part of the RWA Convention this year out in San Fran this summer.  They will have most of the big mega authors, like the Nora, plus most of the ones that will be at the RT this year.  Can’t wait.  I’m hoping to get lots of pics, autographs, and some cool stuff.  I thought about doing a top 10 list of my fav books I read for 2007, but I don’t think I can shrink it down to 10.  I’ll have to really think about it.  Books to me are like music, I love lots of different genre.  I know some people like to stick with 1 or 2, but I like to mix them up, so I never get tired of one, plus I never have to wait too long for a new book to come out.  Hope everyone has a great night.

A sad day

MaxToday, I want to pay tribute to my wonderful dog Max, our chocolate lab.  He was hit last night by a car, and didn’t make it.  He was a great dog, playful, loved to love on you and be loved, and very protective of us.  He wouldn’t let anyone in the yard unless we gave the ok.  We only had him 4 years, but if your a animal lover like we are, you know it doesn’t take long for them to become part of the family.  I’ll post a pic of him on here to go with this.

A New Year, A new start

Hope everyone had a great holiday and new year.  It’s been crazy for me the past couple weeks, with the new pup, going to Mom’s, and trying to get everything put up before the baby tore up all the decorations.  And to top it off, she’s got strep throat.  Yikes!!!!!!  It’s been one of thoses sleeping in the rocker nights the past 3 days.  My neck is killing me.  But that’s one of the downers of being a mom right??  Hey, you’d do anything for your baby though to try to keep her happy, safe, and feeling good though.  I’ve been trying to get caught up on my reading when I can.  I got all of Rebecca York’s Moon books read finally, and have moved to Christine  Feehan’s Drake sisters.  I’m on book 3.  I ordered my Feb. books from Harlequin this week.  They are supposed to be here Monday.  That’s about it I think.  I did order some of Rebecca York’s back issues of her paranormal Harlequin Intrigues, they came today.  Harlequin is doing the book reading drive again this year.  I think its like 10,000 books they are shooting for.  I’ll do my best to help them meet their goal.  That would be my calling if the opportunity ever came my way I think.  Owning my own bookstore.  As much as I love to read, I think it would be perfect for me.  I think something like how BAMM is set up, with the coffee shop inside, but a little smaller, and maybe in time I could add a small bakery/eatery inside along with the coffee.   They have a place in Charleston, called Taylor Books.  We use to go there all the time when I was in college.  They had couches, tables set up all through the book store for people to curl up with a book, magazine, newspaper, etc and just sit and enjoy.  That sound’s cozy doesn’t it.  Who knows, maybe someday.  In the meantime, I’ll enjoy the books.  Hope everyone has a great evening.
